What is going on
After surgery the body protects the area: swelling accumulates, surrounding muscles guard, and the tissue around a healing incision becomes less mobile. Compensation patterns build up — a knee replacement changes how you load the other leg, and shoulder surgery changes how you use your neck.
How massage therapy is commonly used
Early work stays away from the incision itself: gentle work for the compensating regions that have been taking on extra strain. Once the site is fully healed and cleared, treatment may include gentle scar mobilization to improve how the tissue moves.
We ask what your surgeon and physiotherapist have said, and we work inside those instructions.
What to expect over a course of care
Appointments commonly begin weekly and become less frequent as swelling settles and movement returns. Bring your post-operative instructions to the first visit.
