What it is
Sports and therapeutic massage borrows from several techniques — broad flushing strokes, specific friction, contract–relax stretching, joint mobilization — and chooses between them based on where you are in a training block or a recovery.
Work before an event is shorter and stimulating. Work after an event or between training days is longer and calmer. Work during rehabilitation is specific to the tissue involved and coordinated with whatever your physiotherapist or trainer has you doing.
What a session looks like
Expect questions about load: how far, how often, how much weight, how many hours on your feet. Your therapist will test the movement that bothers you, treat, then re-test so both of you can tell whether anything changed.
Most sessions end with one or two things to do at home. We keep that list short on purpose.
Over a course of care
For an acute strain, appointments are often weekly at first and taper as symptoms settle. For an ongoing training load, patients commonly book every two to four weeks. We will say plainly when we think you no longer need regular appointments.
